This next hack will leave your guests guessing which secret ingredient gave your cake that extra oomph. No, the coffee doesn’t make your cake taste like coffee. If you’re making a chocolate cake, a few tablespoons of strong-brewed coffee will bring out the richness of the chocolate.

I like to keep a small jar of espresso capsules on hand to quickly stir in some coffee into my chocolate recipes. If you are interested in having a more mocha flavor, feel free to go a little overboard with the coffee. Just make sure that you cut back on your other liquids so the cake can bake properly.
