We’ve all heard how items once held by celebrities may sell for tens of thousands of dollars, but in the instance of Sylvia Plath’s recipe cards, the final auction price is much above the expected price. Although several of the BBC’s notecards had spills from cooking, they were adequately typed up.
In July, the cards were auctioned off. Her life became increasingly concentrated on writing from then on, and she married Ted Hughes, a fellow writer, in 1956 after studying literature at Smith College and Cambridge University. Plath’s miserable marriage to Hughes resulted in two children.
